Ted Talk from Simon Sinek How Great Leaders Inspire Action

1.Initial Why

I am working in a children education company because I think children education is important. Children education is still not advanced enough comparing with many other technologies. There are a lot of opportunity for me to explore. As a graphic designer, I get chance to innovate, ideation and talk to different people.

Why art directing or creative leadership?

Art director has more power to direct the project. The influence is bigger than many other positions. And it will give the chance to help other people to see their talent and potential. I think this is a great job for me, have change to collaborate with people, make something new/helpful for others and related to art.

What is the creative journey inspired you to pursue this?

I love movies. I saw many documentary about art director and how they made their movies. It is so exciting to let other people who was working finally realize how great when things put together.

What should you be doing right now in your creative journey?

I should use my life to show what is creativity. Start testing different life styles to make more art and writing. Testing how to bring the best creativity from everyday life. And do more research on kid’s learning.

3. Check Superpower cards with someone who knows well

My superpowers

The first time when I did the superpower test, I did so fast. The two superpowers (system thinker and harmonizing) were not that fitting me. So I did the test again. The final result is ingenuity and vision.

I talked to my friends and coworker, they think the first one if more me. The second one, most of them can’t see too much.

Basic feedback:

Ingenuity

1. Have many ideas
2. Try best to catch the goal (Things always could be done)
3. I’m easy to collaborate
4. Don’t like rigid processes (hate play by the rules)

Vision

1. Don’t have much chance to show
2. Need better communication when I have idea
3. Sketch or put it into paper
4. Shot temper/ no patient

Things could improve:

1. Bring people in the working process
2. Reveal the methods behind magic
3. Calm down when the deadline is near
4. Figure out in advance if truly needed for the conversation (Patient)
5. Not only big stuff, but also something abstract and intangible (Small stuff)
